Yeats Burial Place
Yeats Burial Place, Drumcliff, County Clare, Republic of Ireland
Poet W.B. Yeats (1865–1939) had always expressed a wish to be buried in Ireland. However, he died in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, France in January 1939 and it wasn't until later in 1948 that his remains were brought home to Ireland. His final resting place is in the graveyard of St. Columba's Church, Drumcliff.
His epitaph reads:
"Cast a cold Eye
On Life, on Death.
Horseman, pass by."
Also included is a picture of a statue of Yeats in the nearby city of Sligo.
Residents have nicknamed it, “Yeats on a diet”.
