St. Peter's Church - Drogheda
Saint Peter’s Church in Drogheda, County Louth, Republic of Ireland
And so our coach trip proper began.
Our first brief stop was a to a sacred church where some relics of Saint Oliver Plunkett are housed. He was Archbishop of Armagh and Catholic Primate of All Ireland, and the last Catholic to be martyred in England. He was executed in 1681 as part of the Popish Plot.
The holy relics include St. Oliver's head, some of his bones, as well as the prison door from Newgate behind which he'd been imprisoned.
Amazing.
