The Little Museum of Dublin
The Little Museum of Dublin – and its “City of a thousand welcomes” Program
What a delightful museum!
This charming and fun museum houses artifacts donated from Dubliners themselves.
A fantastic guide went over the city's anecdotes, one room devoted to the first half of the 20th century, its other room was on the second half. So, for instance, there were Dubliner stories of the Irish band (and my favourite) "U2", anecdotes of when Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II came to visit (controversial, of course), artifacts from the 1916 uprising, etc. etc. Extremely interesting indeed!
Travel memory: Sharon and I were seated along different sides of the second room - in other words, not side by side. About 10 minutes before the tour guide's talk ended, Sharon just got up and left.
!!!! ?????? !!!!
I admit I was a bit disconcerted. Was she ill? What was going on? Should I leave and follow her?
Ah, the answer became clear. (I had forgotten what it was like to be a smoker.)
"City of a Thousand Welcomes" program:
It also has a program where (free of charge) you are introduced to a real Dubliner who will take you out for a pint and answer all your questions about Dublin.
How cool is that?
Answer: Very cool!
Our wonderful volunteer was “Joe”. He was so nice, informative and helpful.
What a terrific program!
(Book some weeks in advance via the internet. Worked without a hitch.)
