Adare
Village of Adare, County Limerick, Republic of Ireland
Adare is considered to be one of Ireland's prettiest villages.
We stopped for lunch here.
I, however, did not eat lunch. Nor did Sharon.
Instead, we used the short, precious time allotted to us in doing a wee bit of exploring.
Among other lovely buildings, Adare has its famous “Thatched Cottages”, built in the 1820s.
Quintessentially Irish, yes?
Magical.

Trinitarian Abbey
Sharon doesn't have a great deal of interest in churches, but I do. So I popped into this one.
The Trinitarian Order established their only monastery in Ireland in Adare in 1230. It is believed that the Trinitarian monks who came to Adare may have come from Scotland.
The Abbey was restored in 1811 by the first Earl of Dunraven as the Catholic Parish church.
I discovered when I nipped in that it was all decked out for a wedding.
Wow.
Absolutely gorgeous.
